GERMAN COFFEE

“If this is the coffee, please bring me the tea.

If this is the tea, do bring me the coffee.”

“LOST IN GERMAN TRANSLATION’

Recently I found myself in Germany, a kind of by accident. Spending some quality time with the family, where being together is more important than the place you go. That Friday evening I fell asleep on the “humpapa music” of a German wedding celebrated in  my Hotel. Bravely attending the extensive breakfast the next morning, my hope was on a good strong cup of coffee, to shake of those musical dissonants. After one sip I thought, “By mistake they must have put the dishwater in that elegant coffeepot”, the second thought was the quote above! That day in the German rain, lost between biergarten, bratwursten/sausages, and Bonn, I finely found a place of hope.

It is RED, got 3 wheels and is always outside,……. WHAT IS IT ???

MY FAVORITE MOBILE BAR FROM NOW ON

It is a 3 wheeled “Piaggio Porter” mini van, rebuild into The “CAFE-ROLLER”, or small Coffee Bar on wheels. To be found at the Beuel Saturday market on the outskirts of Bonn. The BARISTO master is Mathias Lynders, who after  his history study turned with a group of friends their hobby into their profession.

DELISH ….. BUT ONE HEART IS ENOUGH

And WOW, these guys turn my rainy Saturday into sunshine. The coffee is from the excellent Roman Coffee roaster “La Tazza D’oro”, and prepared with a Italian “BRUGNETTI” coffee machine. This means all aces are on the table, and Mathias knows how to deal them. The coffee is a delight to see, but more important, after all the dishwater I drank, a delight to my taste buds. The atmosphere at the cart is relaxed, and people come around to their favorite cafe on wheels for a chat combined with a perfect espresso or cappuccino.

BESIDES BEAUTIFUL CARS AND WOMEN,
THEY HAVE WONDERFUL COFFEE IN ROME

BAR-BUZZ AT TAZZA D’ORO

MOVIE : At the bar at Cafe Tazza D’oro in Rome

So there are two options on a rainy Saturday in Bonn, one is the “Cafe-Roller”, the other one is a flight to Ciampino or Fiumicino airport near Rome, and from there straight to “Cafe Tazza D’oro”, just opposite the Phanteon. You can’t miss it!

Have a nice day, the Dutch Cook
